🧘Is it Safe to do Yoga/Exercise for Pregnancy?

The answer is: It depends.

When we’re pregnant, our body produces hormones that prepare us for labor…

But these hormones also make us more at risk for strains, pulls, and other injuries.

So we need to be extra careful when we’re doing yoga.

There are certain yoga poses which are safe for some trimesters, but not safe for other trimesters. For example, depending on your trimester, you need to modify abdominal yoga positions in different ways.

Also, everyone’s body is different. What is safe for someone else may not be safe for you.

So here are some tips for you to stay safe when doing yoga or exercise:

Get up slowly and gradually to prevent dizziness

Never exercise to the point of exhaustion

Drink plenty of water before, during and after exercise, to keep hydrated

Follow expert instructions on the proper way to do yoga or exercise tailored for pregnancy. You need someone to give you feedback on whether you are doing some poses correctly. It’s not worth putting you and your baby at risk without the proper instructions! (FYI, that’s why we have real-time virtual prenatal yoga classes so you can get yoga instructions to prevent any injuries.)
